Operation Let's Dance takes our Cowboy and his robot friend, Harmony, to Leipzig, Germany in the year 1704.
Let's Dance (Baroque)
Scene 1:
“You can't win against me, I have reflexes of light, the aim of a sniper and the …,” Kyte taunted as he was interrupted by a virtual bullet striking his nose, “Ahrgh!!! It burns like really good Wasabi!,” Kyte exclaimed, holding his nose. “You're going to regret this! Chaaaarge!” Kyte yelled as he was dashing towards Harmony, his robot friend.
Just then, the door to their room suddenly opened. Caught by surprise, Kyte stepped into the leftovers of his late-night snack, slipped forward and crashed into Harmony.
“Kyte! How many times do I have to tell you not to upload any games to our highly sophisticated devices?” said a voice from the door. It was the captain. “I am expecting you to be ready for takeoff in 10 for a new mission,” he said in an uncompromising voice.
In the conference room, the captain explained the secret mission to Kyte and briefed him about possible dangers and the customs of the time. “Leipzig, Germany, May 25, 1704. It's delicate. Go in, do the job and get out. No playing with food. No playing with kids. And NO playing with women!”
“Aaaaahy captain,” Kyte replied, trying to muster posture and clarity.
“Activating Realigram. Operation: Let's Dance. Destination: Leipzig,” said Harmony in his robotic metal voice, creating the place and time like a hologram on his right shoulder.
“Ok, let's play!” said Kyte and activated a blue drop shaped device on his temporal head, which synced him with Harmony.
“Good luck”, said the captain as Kyte’s body dissolved and vanished.
Scene 2:
“Great! Of all the places, I materialized in a dark, wooden box! Why not a baroque brothel with charming, beautiful women for a change. Really, Harmony? Be creative!” Kyte thought to himself. “Next EnergyBall game, I'm getting my revenge!” he mumbled into his mustache.
Through the slightly opened door of the German ‘Schrank’, he caught a glimpse of an elegantly dressed man having a quiet conversation with someone he couldn’t quite make out.
“Tonight, is the night, milady. The night you've been trained for all these years. You are such an innocent young lady still and it breaks my heart that you, the purest of hearts, have to do this. Unfortunately, there is no other way, and we both know it.” The man handed young woman something, and she slipped it quickly in her dress. “The ball is starting, don't disappoint us! The Kingdom of Arus depends on you!’
Scene 3:
It was a big celebration ball, with live music performed by some of the best musicians in Germany. An Orchestra was playing a polyphonic Sonata in a minor. Kyte, who had made use of one of the room’s wardrobes, had sneaked into the ballroom. Being proficiently trained in meticulous manners, he had been able to stroll inconspicuously through the room. Although he knew that a low-key was key, he couldn't help the excitement of his discovery.
He tapped the blue drop on his temple and whispered, “Harmony, do you hear that? Allemande! The double tapping 16th century moderate tempo dance in 4/4 measures!?! It's so beautiful.”
“It seems like you're having a great time just by yourself,” said a charming lady with a smile and pushed up, big, firm and beautifully pale …
Harmony interrupted, “Kyte, immediate trajectory realignment of visual perceptors upward urgently advised! Commencing Auto-Translate. You’re welcome!”
“You make me laugh,” giggled the lady. “Come on, let’s dance.”
Kyte, committed to his mission, held his visual trajectory up with only brief failing glitches. He was enjoying the dance and trying to guess the violins’ next melody. Suddenly, the music stopped and everyone seemed to freeze. A tall, strongly built man with kind eyes entered the room. It was the prince.
“Man, he's good looking,” Kyte thought to himself, feeling envious. “Maybe I should eat less pizza and work out more.”
“Please, everyone,” the prince addressed the guests, “continue as comfortably as before.” He nodded toward the ensemble, which, after a brief prelude, continued playing.
Kyte noticed fear rising in his dance partner. “Can I ask you why …” Kyte started to inquire just as another man beckoned the lady for the next dance and off, they went.
Kyte calculated the most effective place in the ballroom to observe. He chose a banquet filled with the most delicious looking food - for mission purposes only, of course. As he was indulging, he saw his former dance partner approach the prince and shortly after, they entered the dance floor. Kyte could feel her fear rising (thanks to his exhaustive lessons of his teacher Melody) and he watched as she slowly pulled something out from her dress. The twinkle of something metal made it immediately very clear to him, “A knife!”
He rushed towards the dancing couple but caught his long puffy shoulder piece on a banquet candle stand and tripped over the table landing on the other side with the country's best food falling on him. Like a springboard, he jumped up and casually put his hand on the table and pretended nothing had happened. The crowd turned, looked at him briefly and continued their dance. “I can't make it in time,” Kyte thought to himself. “Harmony, commence operation interference!”
The music stopped. The ensemble stood still for a moment, as if paralyzed. Then, the cellos started playing a new piece in an odd rhythm for that time. “Groovy,” Kyte thought to himself. “Must be Harmony’s work.”
“What an odd dance.” Kyte overheard the prince. “I feel the urge to move my body in a not predefined and choreographed manner. Let's dance something new!” the prince continued with the sparkling eyes boy about to play games with his friends.
And as they danced, the lady more and more felt the kind, loving heart of the prince and his child-like spirit. Her conflict was apparent. As the song went on, the eyes of the prince and his dance partner with seemingly nefarious intentions met several times; it was as if they could look into each other’s soul — see the beauty, the sadness, the struggle. Their dancing became less inhibited and free.
“Everyone, let's dance! Let's dance free! All rules are suspended for this song!” exclaimed the prince.
Everyone was dancing to the music, jumping up and down, stomping and swirling.
“Harmony, I don't know how you do it. I have to admit, you’ve got the power!” said Kyte tapping his blue drop. Kyte, slowly approaching the couple, could feel their connection grow while they shared silly new dance moves. He was convinced that she was not going to hurt the prince. Causually, Kyte walked by the female suspect and as she looked at him, his smile faded. With a cold, dead serious look in his eyes, he slipped the knife out of her dress and turned to the prince.
“Nooo!” the lady screamed in an attempt to tackle Kyte.
“Guards!” exclaimed the prince.
Kyte dropped the knife, scrambled with extraordinary clumsiness and speed under the banquet table. “Harmony, Harmony, get me out of here!!!”
When the guards lifted the tablecloth, there was no one to be found.
Scene 4:
“Phew, that was a close one!” said Kyte with a full mouth.
“Did you seriously take food with you as you were dematerializing?” asked the captain.
“Mhmm, yum… Chicken. It's still warm,” mumbled Kyte.
The captain continued, “Your assessment of the situation was flawed, Kyte. That was reckless. How did you expect to get out of that mess? But … the mission was still successful. The prince, in debt to the lady who seemingly saved his life, was told of the misery his kingdom had brought to the neighboring kingdom of Arus and in time, found a way to make peace with them.”
“Great! Let's celebrate!” Kyte exclaimed as he and Harmony were about to leave the conference room. “So, Harmony?” he asked his robot friend as they walked out the door, “Just a hypothetical question. Could your cooling aggregator keep beer cold?”
